Stripping the paint
Erik's Mustang Restoration Site II

There must be an easier to get this stripped....don't think about that too much.

I am sure that you have heard of the 90-10 rule. In fact there are several of these rules actually. The one that I am thinking of says that 90% of the work can be done with 10% of the effort....That leaves the 10% of the work which requires...you guessed it.

I bought some good quality automotive paint stripper, a good respirator, and some chemical resistant rubber gloves, along with a generous supply of steel wool. When putting this stuff on, be sure that it is really well ventilated. The instructions say it, and now I believe it. I created a very smokey environment when I started using this stuff in the garage. (I live in upstate NY... It's cold out there) The very straight surfaces such as the roof and the flat portions of the hood were not too bad, the rest was hell.
It did not help that there are 4 layers of paint on this car. (and about 50 pounds of Bondo)

The quarter has paint on it still because it is going to be cut away and replaced.

Bondo in the left rear quarter, Bondo in the Tailight panel. Man...is there any panels that I won't need to replace? A quick check of the new rear quarter verified for me that I do not have to worry about removing this cancer. The tailight panel on the other hand was not planned. Looks like about $70 from restoremustangs.com (after shipping)
