Butt Welds are harder than Lap welds...

Well, when doing the floor pans, I figured that lap welds would be the best so that I would get the support from the existing interior sheet metal. I thought that the cowl patch should be done with Butt a Butt weld so that there would be no obstruction to water flow. WOW!! I never saw so many holes blown into sheetmetal in my life. You will notice on the sloped rising section, there is a patch that I had to use to cover some of the swiss cheese that I created. Note to self...use lower amperage next time.

I forgot to take a picture with the old cowl removed, but trust me, it was a hole.
I will use a good quality seam sealer on the welds on top and botton, prime, paint, and then install the upper cowl again.
